If you have children or pets, you will, naturally, want a more durable and easy-to-clean material. Couches with high-maintenance fabrics, such as silk, are best for areas that are used infrequently. Microfibers are great in heavy usage areas, look attractive, and are easy to clean. Textured fabrics show less wear and tear than smooth ones, and leather is a good option if you are looking for longevity. That said, sometimes it’s more cost-effective to replace a couch.

You should think of any genuine leather product like skin because… It is skin. How does your skin look and feel when it’s dirty and dry? Step 7. Sew The New Cushion Covers
Thanks to washing the cushions we don’t have any stains, but the arms developed a dark shadow across them after months of our family stuck at home (and gathered on the couch). Probably from 4 little tushies sitting on on the arms, tiptoeing across them, and jumping off of it. Besides the size and shape of your sofa, another important thing to consider is the fabric.
I did try the free OxyClean solution sample that came with the vacuum, but truthfully I didn’t notice an epic difference between that and regular water. Because the ones offered for rent usually aren’t very clean. Knowing that Dawn ruined the fabric of my sofa, I was a little weary of using a machine that had been used hundreds of times before. Ideally, leave the baking soda on overnight and vacuum all the baking soda off the following day. Between the sun, Lysol and baking soda, your furniture should be smelling and looking a little bit cleaner by now. After your upholstered piece of furniture has been sitting out in the sun for at least 4 hours, I recommend moving it into a garage or under a covered patio. If you want to instantly freshen up your thrifted or charity shop sofa, literally just let it sit out in the sun on a hot day for a few hours.

On those days, I usually grab my laptop, planner, and notepad and just work from my favorite corner spot of our sectional.
